Curtain Call, 2004
Recycled wood scraps, fishing line
and built walls
Dimensions variable
(approx. 10’ x 18’ x 10’)

These scraps are bits of wood collected along the roadside; trash piles - pieces of peoples' lives. I put the castoffs together in a way that allows them to re-inhabit the world through my own chaos, elation, calm. The composition of scraps reflects an energy that is at once mine, and of the world. Each installation is constructed from the remnants of a previous work, as I re-cut and reconfigure the pieces. Many of the wooden scraps are on their sixth transformation.

Curtain Call is both a bright shower of applause
and the veiling darkness of backstage.
